An important update about Vitamin D, its effects and how to detect, prevent and treat Vitamin D will be presented at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in the UK on Monday March 19. International experts speaking will include Professor Susan Whiting, a leading figure on the effectiveness of nutrient supplements who has assessed the Vitamin D status of Canadians for more than 10 years, and Professor Nicholas Clarke from the University of Southampton, who has published the Vitamin D status of children in his orthopaedic clinic and commentary about the 700 cases of rickets officially reported in the UK each year. Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a terrifying disease It is a disorder in which antibodies attack the insulation of the nerves (myelin) leaving plaques that short out the nerves. New research is under way studying the most effective range of vitamin D in reducing symptoms of MS.
Scientists have now published more than 700 scientific papers on vitamin D and breast cancer. More to the point, 37 clinical trials on the topic are now currently registered, all looking to answer two questions: Does vitamin D help prevent breast cancer, and two, does vitamin D have any treatment effect in established breast cancer?
Drs. Goel and Lal from the Medical College in Harayne India study the role of Vitamin D supplementation combined with antihypertensive drugs for patients with hypertension.
Two years ago, Grady Hospital trauma surgeon, Dr. L. Ray Matthews, encouraged 11 family members and friends in his home state of Mississippi to get a blood test to determine how much of the vitamin D hormone their bodies were producing. The results, Matthews said, were alarming.
