This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 8  P.M. Thursday, January 1st, 2015. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time.
Credible reports have come forth indicating that Russia has moved nuclear weapons into the Crimea region. It is not known why this information has not been made public by Ukraine, nor is it exactly known why Russia has done this. It is not believed that the weapons are under Crimea control, but rather maintained by Russian forces.
Poland reports an unusual amount of Russian activity around the Baltic Sea, likely meant to test Nato response in the region. NATO is building up forces along Russia's border, which is highly likely to play to Russia's inherent fears about invasion and Western aggression. The U.S. also plans to station a brigade of tanks in Europe. While these plans were in place before Russia invaded the Ukraine, it is very likely to be seen by Russia as a response to their invasion and annexation of Crimea. Additionally, there is consideration of moving medium-ranged nuclear missiles to Europe in response to Russian nuclear deployments in violation of several treaties.
The United States has begun to normalize relations with Cuba, attempting to neutralise further Russian influence over the island. The European Union has removed Hamas from its list of recognised terrorist organisations, while Germany's Communist party has taken control of the state parliament. ISIS claims to have material for a dirty bomb, referring to radioactive material that was acknowledged by official sources to have been stolen from Mosul University.  The DEFCON Warning System believes the threat is credible.
China continues to test hypersonic missile delivery systems, designed to defeat U.S. anti-ballistic missile defenses. China also is preparing to arm its submarine fleet with first-strike nuclear weapon capability. It should be noted that China has a stated no-first-use policy with regards to nuclear weapons, however the DEFCON Warning System does not place a high value on such statements by any country. China has also recently tested a ballistic missile with multiple independent warheads (MIRVs), another significant advance in nuclear weapon technology for the country, while Russia begins deployment the Yars ballistic missile, which is capable of carrying ten warheads.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.
If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. This system serves northern Stevens County, Washington and Hutchinson County, Texas. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.

You may also subscribe to the YouTube channel DefconWarningSystem and the DEFCON Warning System mailing list.  Note that Twitter and YouTube updates may be subject to delays. The next scheduled update is 8 P.M. Pacific Time, February 1st, 2015. Additional updates will be made as the situation warrants, with more frequent updates at higher alert levels.
This concludes this broadcast of the DEFCON Warning System.
