Subject: [Defconlist] DEFCON Warning System - Update 2/1/13

This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 2 P.M. Friday, February 1st, 2013. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5.
There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time.
Early in January, there was a report of a possible radiation leak near the Iranian city of Isfahan, Iran taking the unusual action of ordering an evacuation of the area. Iran has claimed that it was due to high pollution levels. There has been no outside reports of unusual radiation beyond the area and no further information coming out of the area. The DEFCON Warning System has determined that there is no outside threat. Within and near the city of Isfahan, there are reports of unusual sicknesses which can be consistent with radiation poisoning, therefore it is recommended that the area be avoided until more details can be ascertained including indepth radiological readings.
The United States is worried about China's growing ability to disrupt and attack enemy satellites.  It is currently working on the DN-2 which is capable of crippling the U.S. global positioning system.  Russia is also working on its own anti-satellite system. China is suspected of having anti-satellite weapons available which would effectively knock out U.S. space defense assets.
Iran has resumed plans to launch an animal into space, continuing its space programme which some fear is also used to bolster its ballistic missile programme. Iran has also informed the United Nations that it will increase its nuclear enrichment programme again. This is in the face of continued sabotage at its nuclear facilities.
In an unusual announcement, Indian authorities have warned the residents of Kashmir to construct nuclear shelters and stock up on supplies.  Officials have not responded to inquiries regarding the announcement, and the DEFCON Warning System sees no unusual activities of concern in the area.  However, it should be noted that Pakistan is expanding its atomic arsenal at a faster pace than any other country, according to multiple reports.
North Korea announced that it will carry out a nuclear test that would target the United States while the U.S. has assigned a nuclear powered submarine to take part in South Korean naval drills. Also in the Asian theatre, Taiwan is developing offensive surface-to-surface missiles that will cover a large portion of China.
The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.
If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. This system serves the Kettle Falls area of Northeast Washington. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.
