This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 2 P.M. Monday, April 2nd, 2012. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5. Condition Green. DEFCON 5.There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time. The United States Customs and Border Protection is no longer pursuing plans for 100% scanning of inbound cargo for nuclear and radiological materials while U.S. President Obama has told Russia that he will have more "space" and "flexibility" with regard to missile defense after the U.S. elections, leading some to speculate that Obama will compromise on those issues when he is no longer facing re-election. Putin of Russia has won back his position as President in a highly suspicious election, while Russia is to allow NATO to set up a transit hub inside the country.China has announced double-digit increases in military spending for 2012 and is spending on alternative energy, which will result in a reduced reliance on foreign sources of energy, a sore spot for China's security. The United States is doubling the number of minesweepers in the Gulf, but has privately informed Iran that it is against an Israeli strike on Iranian nuclear facilities and has sought guarantees that Iran would not retaliate against U.S. forces. It is unknown what the United States has promised in return for a no-retaliation promise. At the same time, International Atomic Energy Agency nuclear experts assert that Iran is cleaning up a military facility from radiation after a nuclear weapon test. The International Atomic Energy Agency has received an invitation from North Korea to send inspectors back to the country. North Korea plans to launch a long-range rocket in April, claiming that it is designed to place a satellite in orbit but which others believe is a missile test. South Korea states that it is poised to shoot down the rocket if it strays into its airspace. Japan is also deploying Patriot anti-missile batteries in preparation for North Korea's launch and has stated that it will intercept the rocket. To ally suspicion, North Korea currently states that it will allow foreign experts to observe the launch. India also is to launch its first Intercontinental Ballistic Missile in mid-April.The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack. If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. This system serves the Kettle Falls area of Northeast Washington. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area. For immediate updates, go to www.defconwarningsystem.com.
