Breakfast Cereals Labeled Natural Found To Contain Toxins

Investigation By Watchdog Group Finds High Levels Of Solvents, Pesticides, and GMO's (unlabeled, of course)

For most of my life, this writer has enjoyed cold cereals. Thinking them safe as they are commonly perceived to be simple grains, I've taken solace in the fact that, in the midst of so many processed foods that are bad for you, with a simple grain cereal, I was at least getting a decent breakfast.

Then, when I learned about the dangers of consuming dairy products (particularly for adults), I moved to Almond Milk. Now, we're learning even the cereals themselves have toxins in them -- to say nothing of the genetically modified grains now being found -- and these are GMO's which are completely unlabeled.

A group called the Cornucopia Institute has just released a bombshell report in which they have found that GMO contamination levels in many cereals is between 28 and 100 % of the base grain product -- i.e. wheat, corn, oats, etc. This simply means that the bulk of the product itself can be a completely genetically modified grain, and there is no warning whatsoever on the package!

The food industry has fought fiercely against labeling requirement proposals, and the worthless Food and Drug Administration (FDA) only makes regulatory moves when there is a political or economic payback. In other words, for the uninitiated, those in the know concerning nutrition know the FDA is a joke, and anyone who trusts these criminals does so at their own peril.

Apparently, even though the big manufacturers do not have to label their products as genetically tampered with, the little guys are free to assert their product is GMO free -- at least for now. For instance, a brand called Nature's Path, certifies that their cereal is completely organic and non-GMO, so we're back to that old adage I've now heard 1,000 times -- read the labels.

It's not bad enough the well known cereal brands are slipping in GMO's without telling us, the recent probe also found some very disturbing things about toxins seeping into the cereals, from pesticides sprayed on the grains, and the equipment used to produce the products.

Quite a few brands had measurable levels of toxic chemical contamination. For example, Kashi brand -- which is actually the giant Kellogg's Corporation -- uses soy protein beans which are processed with hexane -- a neurotoxin you want no part of. Kashi, by the way, although branded as a "healthy brand" from Kellogg's, does use GMO's in their cereal.

The Cornucopia study also indicted Kashi products because they found traces of phosmet, malathion (used in California to kill fruit flies) chlorpyrifos, carbaryl, and other scary chemicals, so just because a brand is perceived as healthy, means nothing. It's more likely their advertising has impacted you. After reading the data just mentioned, I know I'll never buy that brand again.

And Kashi isn't alone. Quaker Oats enjoys a reputation for natural products, but the Pepsi subsidiary (famous for the "soft" drink that will dissolve the corroded battery acid found on that 12 V box under the hood of your car) has a manufacturing plant which uses a large amount of sulfurylfluoride in their production. This is a toxic greenhouse gas which can't help but work its way into the cereals. 

Even some of the other non GMO cereals were detected with levels of malathion and phosmet -- such as Mom's Best Naturals, so this supposed "safe haven" for our diets is anything but.

Susan here at Sound Body has been pushing me for just ages to get off the morning cereal routine, and repeatedly urges me to just have a piece of fruit  -- and as I know she's just trying to keep me from being transformed into an animal version of all these mutant cereals (GMO's are, after all, mutated genetic creations of these soul-less corporations inhabited by the Spirit of the age), I may just have to settle for strawberries and bananas for breakfast.

Either that, or I'll just have to read those ingredients even closer than before.
